Hebrew 10:25-- Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, - TopicsExpress

Hebrew 10:25-- Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. God strongly emphasizes the importance of staying closely connected to a local body of believers. According to 1Corinthians 12 -14, all believers are to stay in genuine fellowship and close relationship with a local congregation.. God does not intend for anyone to be a lone ranger or an isolationist! In our day of selfish individualism, many people like to join a large church so they can get lost in the crowd. They come to receive blessings, but then go home without any fellowship or closeness with other believers. (And thats exactly the way they want it!) such a pattern is totally unbiblical and inherently selfish. Still others seek a church that will bless them without asking how they can serve or give in return. Many people selfishly shop for a church like they shop for a health club. They want one with the most benefits and least cost! Churches and growing areas usually have people running out their ears, While churches in growing areas where ministry is so needed often starve for Christian workers. Today it seems many want to sit and be served, but few want to get up and serve. And seeking a church, our primary prayer should not be What can this church do for me, but rather what can I do for this church? it is a major sin not to be involved and consistent giving and service through a local body of believers. Obviously, this principle does not apply to the homebound or seriously ill. Also there are exceptions in the case of those called to intinerant ministries. Yet, even they need a definite church home. Another common form of this sin is the tendency to drift from church to church. Such people often become permanent visitors. By doing this, these believers never form a deep biblical fellowship with other Christians. They also avoid personal responsibility and spiritual service for the good of Christs Church. As a result, they can never grow up spiritually or be truly right with God. Unfortunately, Satan often deceive such people into believing they are somehow fulfilling their responsibility to Christs body. Ask God to search your life and reveal ways you are neglecting consistent fellowship and substantial service in the local body of Christ.
