Hebrews 5:12 Hebrews 6:1-3 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so. ( In this passage, the author of hebrews (i.e. the holy spirit) was lamenting at the slow growth in the hebrew church despite the long time they had heard the scriptures. That the slow growth in understanding forced their teachers to keep on repeating the same basic teachings about God. He compared them to a builder who kept laying a foundation over and over again without erecting the walls and pillars that raise the building. But how different is the the hebrew church with our churches in this aspect of slow growth even for people who have been raised in the church from childhood.? Moreover, are we not taught the same basic principles over and over again every other sunday? These basic principles are; repentance from acts that lead to death, faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. Therefore be the judge, listen to sermons on Sundays and see if they dont revolve around these basic teachings. Is it not time we grew up?)
