About the course: Soft computing as a field of applied computer science emerged from an ambition to parallel the unique capability of human mind to approach difficult problems in the world full of uncertainty, vagueness and complexity. To face this challenge, soft computing was originally founded on three major methodological pillars: neural networks, fuzzy logic and evolutionary computing. The course is intended to serve as an introduction to the field of soft computing and illustrate the potential of presented methods in a range of case study applications. The accompanying lab sessions in Matlab will offer great opportunities to familiarise yourself with these concepts through hands-on experience.
