HellBat! With a capital B and an explanation point! You cant do anything cooler than listne to this record on a Saturday night. Plus, I have Vince Meghrouni, the drummer and co-writer in this beautiful prog-punk project, messaging me details of how they went about recording this album, which is quite rich and crystaline in quality.....all in a small rehearsal room, mics and headphones a blazin, mixer in the room across the hall.....not in the high profile studio I had imagined from the quality. Some of the best records are recorded in the most rudimentary fashion. Then there is the sheer genius of the writing. I want SO badly to bring HellBat! to the desert. I really need like a few hundred of you to agree with me so we can make it happen. Im here to tell ya Jello Biafra nor the Dead Kennedys have got nothing on vocalist Steven Kopp, and this band which also features Vince Meghrouni (and his madcap writing skills) on drums, Michael Alvidrez on bass (the beautiful and highly charged bassist for The Atomic Sherpas) and introduces (to me at least) Ken Lasaine on guitar, is far too good to let slip through the cracks. From song one til the record is over its a frenzy of spirited creativity presented by amazing players. I want it on vinyl! I wonder if there is a limit on how many Vince Meghrouni projects I can love? I hope not. You people really need to get to the very next shows by both the Atomic Sherpas and HellBat! Ya know who would go good on the bill with HellBat!? You Know Who......a different kind of prog-punk rock band that features the creative mind of Mike (Pygmie) Johnson and the dynamic and hard driving rhythms section formed by Dylan Brown and Greg Saenz....What a great idea is that show? I would pay to see it...at The Hood could be nice! Jack Kohler...do you take requests????? I aint even slightly kidding. A girl can dream cant she??? I am always dreaming...one show at a time!
