Hello - Just wanted to first introduce myself and Butch to this group. Butch was born with ME and had a HUGE diverticulum (sac) and misplaced esophagus for much of his first two years. He recently had two surgeries - one in Feb and one in June - where they stapled his diverticulum and put his esophagus where its supposed to be. Many thousands of dollars later he is doing pretty good and now has a more typical ME protocol than before where we were struggling to get anything past the diverticulum. Right now hes eating canned food blended with water four times a day in his Bailey chair with a 5 minute wait time after he eats and that seems to be working...wooo hooo!! Its been a long haul and hes been thru the ringer. Unfortunately and fortunately, my job recently relocated me from Phoenix to Portland. I was ecstatic to get out of the heat but I had to leave Butch in Phoenix with my former housemate until I could get my stuff moved and settled. Im really hoping to get him back with me as soon as possible but I keep running into hiccups in my plans. Ive done transports of rescue dogs for years and have several groups I belong to but it would be great if he could be transported by ME-savvy people when it comes to his feedings. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions Id love to hear them. He was over-crated before I got him so he really has a pretty strong negative reaction to being crated but does fabulous on a leash and loves everybody he meets. Im just trying to sift thru any options cuz my back is still recuperating from the drive up to Portland but Ill do whatever I have to get him up here with me.
