Hello All, A few updates from last nights council meeting - TopicsExpress

Hello All, A few updates from last nights council meeting (you can get a larger recap of the meeting here: Councilman James Lafferty) 1. The tax collector will begin evening hours next week. She will be available Monday and Friday from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Borough Hall (250 Sharon Avenue). 2. Solicitors: Solicitors, salespeople who come to your door, are required to get a permit from the police department to operate in the borough. If one comes to your home (energy companies seem to be prominent examples of companies sending out these solicitors) please ask to see their permit. If they do not have one PLEASE call 911 to have them checked out. Each individual person soliciting needs to have a permit. One permit for an entire group is not allowed. Please, please, please, do not simply hand over your bills/identification to individuals claiming to be representatives of this, that or the other company. 3. Official borough social media sites: Within the next few weeks the borough will be creating an official Facebook and Twitter page to increase the dissemination of information to citizens. This is as a result of council wanting to be more transparent as well as have additional avenues by which we can inform the public of what is happening in the borough. As soon as these sites are up and running the information will be posted here. 4. The fire company has new smoke detectors available for residents who need them. These are new detectors with a 10 year battery life. The fire company cannot just give these out, they need to be installed by our Fire Marshall, Chuck Burk. If you are a citizen of the borough and would like one please visit the fire company and make an appoint with Chuck so he can come and install one for you. Also, Mr. Burk highly recommends that citizens buy Carbon Monoxide detectors for their homes. The smoke detectors are just that, smoke detectors, they do not have a dual ability to detect carbon monoxide. 5. Drug Take-back: Saturday, April 26th from 10am-2pm at the Sharon Hill Police Department. 6. The library has been awarded a $1,500 grant for rising languages. The library will have material relating to sign language, French and Arabic. If you, or someone you know, are interested in these languages please contact the library for more information.
