Hello All, I know everyone who knew Jimi has a great Jimi story. I have many but one of my favorites took place while we were recording a song that Steve Cropper and I wrote for a national telethon to bring awareness to child abuse for the National Exchange Club. As always while tracking vocals Jimi injected his own spin and as always that spin was very welcome as he had a great ear and did brilliant vocal arrangements. Like most of his ideas it took him near the top of his range in full voice and the first pas he was just a bit flat so I suggested he re do the line. The next pass was a bit sharp. When I pointed it out, ( in perfect quick witted Jimi form) he replied Ive got it surrounded He was a clown for sure and a lovable kind generous man. He was always ready to lend his voice to a cause that would benefit children. Im sorry for the video as it comes from an old VHS and is the only copy I have. When I can I will replace the audio as well. I do have the original mix tape from the session. I think you will all understand that it at least captures his essence and you will probably not see this video anywhere else as it was only used for that one telethon in about 1994.
