Hello All, What an entertaining couple of days out here in cyberspace! Hats off to everybody for taking part in the discussion. And after reading the wide ranging points of view, I thought it time for yours truly to chime in with a few thoughts. While I generally believe that all points of view deserve to initially be considered respectfully, there appears to be three standout performers in this debate whose disregard for truth or fact knows no bounds. They have, in fact, forced me to reconsider the possible depths to which some will stoop to save face. Unfortunately, its a futile effort on their part and all becoming a bit sad really. But I just couldnt let this go without stating a few realities first. Lets take the first cab off the rank, the chip of the old block, if I cover my eyes and ears it didnt happen Nic Grove. Attempting to do the impossible and defend the indefensible. Dont worry Nic, Ive been in a similar position to you defending my Dad a few years ago. The only difference was he got into trouble for telling the truth. Good luck with your conundrum. If I may suggest, write less, read more. I was told by patrons who saw the assault on our door person that the viciousness of the attack lead one to wonder what you have had to endure. And your folks leaving you out there, unskilled in these matters, to bumble your way to a demoralising defeat. And all to keep the band from receiving their rightful money. It was the first time the band employed their own door person and the final cash total was more than double the normal amount with no more patrons than normal. Why was there such urgency to take the till away to the office before we could count it? But we were one step ahead werent we? And somebody didnt like it. Is that why when Ric and I went to get the fixed money from the venue office as we have for 17 years we were told that if we wanted to play there again next week there was going to be no retainer paid to the band, the venue would no longer continue to contribute to production costs and we could not use our own door person ever again? Take it or leave it. And we are still waiting for The other side of the story. You know why it hasnt been forthcoming? Because it doesnt exist... Then there is somebody out there who takes gutless cheap shots at the band and doesnt use their full name. Call me old school but there is no honour in that kind of behaviour and once again not a shred of truth to any of it. And finally we come to Sam Simmonds. An individual who knows so little about so much and cant wait to tell us all about it. I can see a positive here. Maybe Sam could start drafting a book entitled How to discredit yourself to the world in no time at all. It really is a marvellous self demolition job. Just add water, makes its own sauce... So I can only hope that I have given you some entertainment with my essay as I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all yours. Back to the studio now to do some shreddin! Live Well, Play Hard, Michael.
