Hello Everybody, I hope you had a great summer! Some news and notes..... 1- We have renamed the Lil Mustangs to the Mini Mustangs. All further communications will refer to as such. 2-A quick reminder please pm me if you have equipment from last season. I will need to arrange a pick up/drop off with you so I can get all gear cleaned for the upcoming hockey season 3-I spoke to Coach Ed Montalbano and we will be running a preseason refresher. This will not be part of the cost of the Mini Mustang program. I am unsure of the cost per session at this time but it shouldnt be too much. This is an independent coaching session run by Ed. As the kids get older it is common to knock off the summer rest with preseason clinics. These usually focus on power skating. We will follow the same format. Refreshers will take place on Tuesday mornings at 8:45 and run till 10:00. We will start promptly at 8:45. The first day is 9/2 followed by 9/9,9/16,9/23,9/30,10/7, and 10/14. Format for the refreshers will include an off ice portion which will focus on general exercises for the kids (Ladder drills, Sprints, Proper stick holding techniques, stretching and more) after the off ice work is done parents will be needed to get the kids in skates/equipment. We will then take to the ice for simple open ice skating and fun. There will be no sticks, pucks, station drills on the ice. If your kid is not doing a fall sport or has not skated this summer I highly encourage you to do this. 4-Mini Mustangs registration should be open within the week. Simply head on over to Saugertiesyouthhockey, click on mini mustangs and register. 5-The fee for the Mini Mustangs this year is $175.00. While this is an increase from last season I want to explain the costs and why the increase in fees. This breaks down to a cost per week is $7.60 a-Thanks to the cost of energy ice costs have increased. b-We have purchased full ice for our Tuesday morning slots rather than 1/3 ice. c-We have doubled the number of on ice session to 24 Tuesday Mornings starting 10/21 through 3/31. d-We have also added 22 Sunday night session from 10/26 through 3/29 which we will split with the Learn to Play program. e-We will again off FREE Skate and Equipment rental f-Each child will receive a jersey,t-shirt and award at end of year g-Each child will be able to attend two hockey clinics in conjunction with players from the Albany Devils at Kiwanis Ice Arena. While I understand this is an increase in last years program I promise it will be worth it. Your child will receive two if not three times as much ice and practice time. This program at any other facility would have cost a minimum of $400. This can be paid in full or you can enroll in a payment plan where you can pay $100 at registration and the rest will be collected automatically on January 1st, 2015. If paid in full your child will receive a FREE hockey stick from SYHA. 6-If weekday mornings no longer work for you I recommend a move to the Learn to Play program. Cost is the same. It will take place Saturday Morning and Sunday Nights. 7-If you are interested in your child playing Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday the cost is $250 8-I am currently working on a referral program with the SYHA Board. While I cant promise this will happen, I am trying. Please tell your friends, family and classmates. The more we grow the more we can give back and the lower prices can be. 9-We are looking to do some fundraisers this season to raise funds for training aids and possibly divider boards.
