Hello Everybody, Please join the Ozaukee County Planning and Parks Department - Fish Passage Program, the Ulao Creek Partnership, the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Trout Unlimited (SEWTU), Milwaukee Riverkeeper, Milwaukee Audubon Society, Great Lakes Community Conservation Corps, the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, and other organizations at a tree planting event on Saturday, October 11 at 9:00am at the Ulao Creek Habitat Restoration project site. We will be planting numerous trees and shrubs adjacent to the stream channel at the project site to provide bank stabilization, combat invasive vegetation, and improve habitat for fish and wildlife. We will have machinery onsite to help move the larger trees into place. Some shovels and small tools will be provided to help plant the smaller tree and shrub stock, but if you can bring any shovels or spades, that would be appreciated. We will also be installing protective cages around the trees and shrubs. If you know any other folks, groups, or organizations that can help, please send this volunteer opportunity information to them! RSVP’s are appreciated. The more volunteers we have, the greater the success will be! A lunch will be provided at 12:30pm hosted by Ozaukee County and SEWTU.
