Hello Everyone, It seems so much happens in between updates. First and foremost good luck to our City to Surf team tomorrow. Congratulations and well done on supporting Marnie. The whole team deserves credit for their commitment but I want to highlight two young ladies. Ishka Bless was the coordinator for the whole event and set about making this fundraiser hers. She helped the Fund get the Everyday Hero account off the ground and has inspired her team to raise over $3998.40, 10% of which has been raised from overseas. The Everyday Hero Fundraisers sent the MCF an email saying our team is ranked in the top 10 performing teams for average fundraising per person. The second young lady we would like to acknowledge is Mandy King. Mandy approached the MCF to raise money for Marnie whom she has never met. Marnie’s story inspired Mandy to something for a young girl her own age in the Hawkesbury. Mandy has raised a significant amount of money and has inspired us all through her generosity. Well done Mandy. Marnie sat up by herself for 2 minutes on Friday and then stood up and had a small walk, she also managed to beat me three times at snakes and ladders. Go Marnie. The Doctors have informed Donna that Marnie will be in a wheelchair long term due to scarring on her brain. This has led to a lovely lady Sally Niass, a very dear friend of Jane Ramsey to donate a $30,000.00 wheelchair. The Chair along with other items will be assessed by the Brain Injury unit this coming week. Many many thanks Sally and Jane. Marnie is going so well…………the Doctor’s informed Donna she can go home late this year after the surgery to fix the AVM has been performed. Marnie will stay at the Brain Injury Unit until suitable accommodation and transportation has been obtained. In order for Marnie to come home to the Hawkesbury we as a community need to help make this happen as Marnie needs have changed significantly and ongoing nursing at home is very expensive. Arndell Anglican College and the Marnie Clapham Fund have kick started this initiative by making sure Brittany’s School Fees are covered for the next three years. This is one less financial burden. Our 2 fundraising objectives for the next five to six months will be: WHEELS FOR MARNIE – Goal $50,000.00 (wheelchair modified family van) BRING MARNIE HOME – Goal $50,000.00 minimum Once we have raised enough money for a vehicle we will then focus on raising enough money for modifications to the home. Other Government grants will be applied to daily nursing costs, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and medical needs. We will keep you informed of fundraising as soon as we have the details. Lastly it will take 8 months for Marnie to obtain her communication device for Brain Injury patients. Her Neurosurgeon suggested an Ipad for her in the interim. We are very pleased to inform everyone that Jamie Buttigieg of Radio Rentals has donated an Ipad for Marnie. Thank you Jamie and Radio Rentals for your generosity. Our Marnie Community is amazing and together we can achieve anything. Our Operation ‘Wheels for Marnie’ and ‘Bring Marnie Home’ will be underway very soon. Much love to all of our followers, MCF xxx
