Hello Everyone, We are a family from Central America, we have a little boy. After graduating from the university we both got jobs and everything was going fine. Before our son was born our jobs gave us enough to live with. We weren´t making what was fair for our line of work, but we thought: more money will come with more work experience. She was a video editor and camera-woman for years and only made $300 a month, then left that to teach radio and TV production in two different universities and made $300 a month in each of them. I was a video editor and animator who started at $500 a month and I later studied 3D animation and got up to $1,300 a month. When we were expecting our baby boy I thought I would start looking for a better job so that she could take care of the baby for a couple of years before returning to work. But when the crisis hit the country and companies started laying off people, I couldn´t find a job before the layoffs reached me. Every place I went looking for a job had the same response: We used to have a 3D department but we had to let them go or ...we can only keep one person for 3D, and we have him already All I could do is get some freelance projects, but hardly anyone wants to pay more than $99 for any project, no matter how complex the project could be. I´ve tried applying to jobs in the USA, Canada, Europe, etc. through different websites, but haven´t had any luck. The only jobs I´ve found after that have been getting worse; $800 a month on an interior design company that went broke, $400 a month job with a fair stand design company that had to let me go after they were played by a bad client and almost went broke too. Ironically I´ve become a lot better at what I do, learning by myself how to make more detailed 3D Models, faster, with faster renders, using more 3D programs and more 3D Render Engines, even stereoscopic 3D for Pictures, movies, and lenticular printing. We don´t have a place of our own so we have been moving to smaller places with cheaper rent but further from were good jobs are normally found. This situation has made our debts rise to $9,000. Right know I would take any job but the average salary here is $300 a month and places that can use my skills just don´t want to hire someone right now, they just give me some projects from time to time.
