Hello Everyone hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather. Just wanted to share with everyone my November Miss Gay Arkansas newsletter. According to Ambrosia. . . Fall is my favorite season. . . . As leaves are changing and a chill sets in the air, it’s a reminder to enjoy the little things. Take nothing for granted, and spend time with people you love. As holidays are approaching, we all have the opportunity to show thankfulness, love and compassion that can make someone’s day, month or year. Celebrate life this time of the year with random acts of kindness. . .pay it forward, and you’ll be surprised by the results. I’m incredibly proud. . . . On Sunday, October 5, I attended my first Gay Pride Parade and Celebration in downtown Little Rock at the Clinton Library. I was so happy to see so many people from every walk of life coming together – singles, couples, straight families and all of their pups – to celebrate our diversity and unity. As a young boy who grew up thinking something was wrong with me, I never imagined a day where I would be able to hold my head high, proud of who I am, proud of this community and this family. To all of the organizers and supporters……thank you for making me PROUD!!! Arkansas is very generous. . . . Putting together a national level competition package was expensive, very labor intensive and certainly not a task that I could accomplish on my own. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of my sponsors and supporters. Those who attended the meet and greet fundraiser, without your generosity, I never would have been able to represent Arkansas as I did. Thank you! Miss Gay America is a crash course in life. . . . I am not sure that I could have been prepared for the personal and artistic growth that MGA was going to offer me. I went into it expecting simply a week of competition and representing my home state. What I experienced was far more – I was creatively inspired, challenged mentally and emotionally, learned more about who I am as a man, who I am as an entertainer and made some amazing friends that I will cherish for life. This was quite possibly one of the most important weeks I’ve experienced in life, and I am very fortunate. Arkansas talent just keeps getting better. . . . I was privileged to share the stage recently with Akasha Mazzaratie Steele Adonis, Brittney Paige, Rhiannon Cortez, Chloe Jacobs, Queen-Anthony James Gerard, Brooklyn Bisette and Valentino Rios – such diversity, such talent and such beautiful men and women. Each time I see these entertainers perform, their professionalism and talent motivates me to be better. Collectively, we make a difference. . . . Throughout this next year, I want to use the title of Miss Gay Arkansas 2014 as a tool. I want to use it to help give back to some very worthy causes in the state that are making an impact and can use the assistance to further their causes. Very soon, I will be making announcements as to some of the organizations I am choosing to assist. With the New Year approaching, I would like to call on all of you to look and see what you can do to make a difference. Look in your area and see what you can do to change someone’s life for the better. You can change the life of an entertainer. . . . I have been fortunate to have had amazing promoters for each of my pageant experiences. Each one of these individuals left a lasting impact on me and played an integral part of making my dreams become a reality. While I’ve had the opportunity to speak with several of you in regards to promoting preliminary pageants this year, I know that there are other untapped resources out there that can bring the insight and guidance to the future of female impersonation in Arkansas. Taking the opportunity to become a city preliminary promoter continues the legacy of the oldest pageant in the Miss Gay American system. Being a promoter provides the first step in making a dream come true for one of your local entertainers. Please contact me for information on how you too can become involved at the promoter level. I can’t wait to have a little sister. . . . Every year since 1973, someone’s dream has come true as he has been crowned Miss Gay Arkansas America, and this next year will be no different. It will offer someone in this state the chance of a lifetime. To become part of a legacy that has stood the test of time is humbling and opens so many doors for you. It provides you the opportunity to leave your mark on history and make a difference in the world we share. Start preparing now to begin your journey to be Miss Gay Arkansas America 2015. If anyone has any questions about competing or would like advice on preparation, please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
