Hello Everyone, Fri. Sept. 13, 2013 Each week you will receive this email with news and deadlines – it is a mix of class, post secondary and scholarship news. Please keep them tucked away in your in box! CLASS NEWS 1. Remember that we will meet every two weeks for formal class (Monday afterschool or Wednesday at 7:30 am) in the Career Center (alternating weeks of class). 2. We will be working on Scholarship Spreadsheets next week. 3. We will go over the Oak Bay Scholarship handbook next class – please find it on the website and read over it! ob2.sd61.bc.ca/staff/salexander/courses/sch-prep/documents/OBScholarshipHandbook.doc POST-SECONDARY NEWS The updated Graduation Planner has been released by the Ministry of Education: bced.gov.bc.ca/graduation/grad_certificate.htm PSAT – Practice SAT – Oak Bay is hosting this exam again this year on October 16th at 8:30 in rm #302. Please see Mrs. Giesbrecht in the Career Centre to sign up. Space is limited so don’t delay. US Bound? Students and parents are invited to an evening program with representatives from the Undergraduate Admission Offices of Brown University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, Stanford University, and University of Pennsylvania. The evening will be Tuesday September 24th at 7:00 pm at St. Michaels University School 3400 Richmond Road. Oak Bay Secondary University Visits & Parent Information Evenings 2013-2014 Please check the school website for dates and times. SCHOLARSHIP NEWS This week go over a very comprehensive database for scholarships in Canada. This will be used to communicate details and deadlines for application. I will give monthly deadlines but it is up to you to make sure that you have the exact date on which you apps need to be handed in. It’s your responsibility to make sure you meet deadlines! If your parents would like to be on my email list, please have them email me. I also post this to Facebook under facebook/obscholarship Lastly, if you would like to apply for the LORAN and TD scholarship and are ready to put the work into applying, I will have a meeting in TAP next Friday in the Carrer Center to go over the process of how we select our 3 candidates for LORAN (you can also apply as a direct applicant) .
