Hello FB family! The meditation: True Humility Do you remember the school yard bully? The one who threatened you and made your elementary school days miserable? After many months of torture, finally one day you confessed that youve had enough. You gathered enough courage to meet him face-to-face. Your intentions were to stand up to him once and for all, hoping that this would end his bullying. Without a flinch, you gazed into his eyes. Then all of a sudden, you had a change of mind. Instead of giving him a bloody nose, you turned and walked away. Who do you consider the greater of the two? The worlds perspective of walking away from trouble is considered cowardly, incompetent and weak; but from Gods view, this is a perfect picture of humility. In fact, humility is a sign of great strength; the strength of character that enables a person to step aside and leave his bully standing. It is the characteristic of a person who exemplifies the life of Christ. Many scriptures describe Christs character as being meek and gentle. Yes, life can get tough at times and you may be tempted to act out of your Christ-like character. But who will win in the end? True humility doesnt come easily, especially in a culture that devalues it. Humility requires ignoring societys perspective and commit to walking in love, gratitude, forgiveness, joy, and compassion. These qualities cant be manufactured; they come by submitting yourself and every aspect of your life to God, who can be trusted with everything you give Him. My, friend, I am quite sure youve had plenty of opportunities to stand up and confront the bully. But you chose to be strong and walk away. When troubles of life come, keep yourself encouraged by meditating on His amazing promises that are found in the following passages: For when I am weak, then am I strong. (2 Corinthians 12:10) For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. (Luke 18:14). Amen! - CAROLYN CROW
