Hello Family and Friends and welcome to another edition of The Movie Review. This summer has been so far been filled with exciting and not so exciting films. In today’s double feature Saturday from June 29th, 2013 (Sorry I’m late with this!), we have two films for viewing. The first film is a comedy feature called, “This is the End” starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson as themselves in the final days of planet Earth. This was intended to be a fun film, much like Mars Attacks from the previous decade. Big name stars playing not so big roles. A movie where they can just kid around and be themselves! The end of the world has come, which happens to coincide with Jay Baruchel coming in from New York to visit his best friend, Seth Rogen in Hollywood. They are invited to a party at James Franco’s new house and all hell breaks loose….literally! Of the 100 or so party goers, only the six of them are left to survive hell on earth. Some others featured in this film are other Hollywood goers like Michael Cera, Emma Watson, and even Rihanna was featured. This was a film that is not going to win an award for anything. Keep in mind, these actors were not playing characters, they were playing themselves. A totally “lets have a good time making this” film. The story was funny and it definitely has great moments. Have to say I liked the ending. Its not a film that I would say is a Must See at the Theater rating, but when it does come out on video and you are having friends over for drinks / supper, I would definitely buy / rent this video for the weekend.
