Hello Fencing Knights, its that time of year again! Officer elections for the 2014-2015 Academic Year will be held on Monday, April 14. Nominees will be given a limited time to give a speech to their fellow fencers at the beginning of practice on this date. The positions available are as follows, with a brief description of expected duties: 1. President-responsible for recruiting new fencers and communicating with the heads of other fencing clubs in Florida, in particular with the Central Florida Division of Fencing. The president is responsible for attending Sports Club Council related functions which typically involve attending a monthly SCC meeting in addition to officer training workshops. The president is responsible for ensuring that all other officers are meeting their responsibilities. 2. Treasurer- Most important responsibility is taking club dues from prospective members. Also, responsible for keeping the club finances in check. The treasurer is also responsible for working with the president and other officers to finalize a club budget to present to SCC. The treasurer is also responsible for paying for new equipment or any other items/services the club needs. 3. Risk Management Officer-Must take CPR and First Aid courses for certification. The risk management officer must be vigilant in identifying and correcting hazardous behavior in the club. Also responsible for assisting if/when an emergency takes place. 4. Secretary- Checks club email and responds to simple correspondence (inquiries about the club, etc). Notifies other officers of important messages and assists the president in arranging and organizing events. All officers must be financially trained (a quick UCF webcourse), have good academic standing (GPA 3.0 or higher), be a UCF student with an ID and be enrolled in classes.
