Hello Folks, I am looking for some advice here. One of my close friends daughter lives in a TMHA apartment complex. She has 3 children living there with her. She had a crazy power surge happen in her apartment yesterday and it fried her TV, computer, (smoke came out of them and the power strips) and she is not sure what else because the electric is only partially working now, the refrigerator is barely running. Yesterday the complex maintenance and Ohio Ed was there deciding whose issue/responsibility it was. They said it was a TMHA issue. An electrician was supposed to be there today. It was a no-show. She tried calling the emergency # for the complex, which directs her to another # that has an answering machine. I feel so sorry for her, she is in her 30s and she works her butt off. She is someone who picked herself up off of the bottom and has worked very hard to improve her and her childrens lives. Now she has lost a lot of things that she worked so hard to get. How can it be legal for them to leave her and her children in this situation and not provide alternative housing? The electric is only partially working, what lights there are are dimming. They are afraid that it will catch on fire. I have advised her to call an attorney, but she can not do that until Monday. She needs her computer for her job and can not miss out on work. Does anyone have any experience, words of legal advice, or suggestions of any agencies or an attorney for her to contact for help with her situation? Thanks!
