Hello Friends, Hope this mail finds you in the best of your health and the pink of your moods. It gives me immense please to make the pre-announcement of the opening of a new international school in Kawasaki from April 2015. As the school is going be set up in Kawasaki, we have decided to name it Kawasaki International School (KIS), and the school building is conveniently located at a 10 minute walk from JR Kawasaki station / Keikyu Kawasaki station. This is a pre-announcement and we will be making a formal announcement of the opening in the middle of October, when our website and school prospectus will go live. I would like to share some of the key highlights of the school. (a) Curriculum: After considering various curriculums, we have decided to adopt the Cambridge curriculum. Cambridge curriculum is the largest international curriculum with the focus on rigorous learning of the core subjects. It incorporates a high degree of flexibility so that the curriculum can be customized according to the local requirements. Cambridge curriculum has also become immensely popular in India in recent years. (b) Extracurricular activities: The school will be offering a wide range of extracurricular activities as optional subjects. For example, music, dance, yoga, intensive Japanese, foreign languages, etc. (c) Teachers: This will be one of the key differentiators of KIS, because most of the teachers would be highly qualified and experienced teachers directly recruited from India. For subjects like Japanese and music, teachers would be recruited locally. In the Cambridge curriculum, teachers have to undergo mandatory training every year in order to ensure that they consistently impart high quality education to the students. (d) Principal’s profile: Head principal and founding member of KIS is Ms. Inderjeet Kaur. She is associated with the education field for more than 30 years, and she has played a key role in setting up a number of international schools in India and abroad. She was instrumental in streamlining the operations of GIIS Tokyo during her 2 year stint as the principal of the school. In the recent years, she was involved in setting up Ram Ratna International School in Mumbai (which also follows the Cambridge curriculum). (e) School timings: In addition to the core timings, KIS will also offer optional extended hours until evening keeping in mind the requirement of families where both the parents are working. In the first academic year starting from April 2015, KIS will offer classes from nursery up to Grade 2. We will be progressively adding higher grades from 2nd academic year onwards. After making a formal announcement of the opening of KIS in the middle of October, we plan to start parent counseling sessions from the last week of October. As we are still in the process of completing the background work, do feel free to contact me with your valuable suggestions / opinions. Thanks and regards Premal vakil Shikha sharma Top of Form Bottom of Form
