Hello Friends, Today, August 15 2014, marks the 40th year of the Turkish invasion and continued illegal occupation of 39% of Cyprus, my Country, including the 11th century BC Ancient City and Theater of Salamis (Salamina). Hundreds of thousands of fellow Cypriots had to flee, after the July 20th and August 15th Phases of the 1974 Turkish invasion, including my family. In commemoration of these events Alexia and I went on a road trip to the north with a couple of iPhone cameras and a GoPro to just capture all the natural moments along the way. Alexia Re-visits Salamina, to pay homage to her ancestry and to Sing in the Forbidden for her both as a Cypriot and as a Singer, Ancient Theater. This is Alexia’s way, of Re-Connecting with the land she walked on as a child, after the displacement, by way of this ritual-like Healing process, creating a Union with her Past and her Present, through her Voice, her Absence and her Presence. We created this Docu video of Improvised filming - this Cinéma Vérité style, meaning: Unplanned, Unscripted, Unrehearsed and Unexpected, just like a child experiencing the world - Alexia’s way of experiencing the world. The soundtrack for this video is an original composition, “Time/ Love me, written, composed and performed by Alexia from her triple cd Re-bE. Thank you Alexia Vassiliou mou for Being You, Always. youtu.be/BvPb_aaxjY0
