Hello Gentlemen, I am Brother Vesuvius and for the past year I have had the honour of representing Omega Theta Alpha as their President. It is an experience I have trouble putting into words, despite being an English major with a vested interest in Creative Writing. What I can say is that choosing to Rush was easily the best decision I made in my university career and transformed me from a boy lost in the city to the man I am today. I had to leave school during my second semester due to some medical problems, causing me to miss out on meeting a lot of people during that first year. After that I lived off campus with roommates who were very content with staying inside and not meeting anyone else. I personally felt that I was missing out on what were supposed to be the best years of my life. That’s when I ran into one of the brothers and became friends with some of them after helping them get beer for their Halloween kegger (Oh yeah, I work for a brewery too. Muskoka Brewery to be exact, thats what you were drinking at the Omegger if you were there). I went to my first Rush event the following semester and never in my life had I felt such an overwhelming sense of inclusiveness. It was a tight knit group of people who have become my support group time and time again in years to come. We really are a fraternity that puts the concept of BROTHERHOOD before anything else. Here’s a great pic of Brothers who helped me move last year, which resulted in us drinking beers on a couch outside. Don’t know what I would do without these stand up gentlemen.
