Hello, I am a 2 year old boy named Dean. I am in a lot of pain right now but I would like to tell you my story. I was born on the streets of Phuket, Thailand, like many other dogs I know. I have spent two years looking after myself, trying to find food wherever I could and seeking shelter from the hot sun or heavy rain. No human has ever owned me; I have never known love. I came to Soi Dog because of this terrible wound I have on my neck. I can’t tell you exactly how I got it but I do know that it got a lot worse over time and it is now very badly infected. When the vets here examined me, they said it was full of dead maggots. It made me very sad to see what had happened to my once beautiful coat. Dr. Sai and Dr. Eed are both looking after me now; my wound gets cleaned and treated every day and they tell me that I will be all better soon. I am a little bit scared of the humans, but if they sit quietly beside me, I will let them pat me on the head. I am still not a big fan of having my wound cleaned though. The humans tell me that I am only here because of a special group of Soi Dog supporters called the Emergency Response Team. It is the donations of these kind people that meant I could be picked up off the street and taken to the shelter. If not for them, I would still be wandering the streets, with a seriously infected wound getting worse and worse. I would not have made it.
