Hello, I am excited to be running for Arcadia City Council and I - TopicsExpress

Hello, I am excited to be running for Arcadia City Council and I want to be YOUR voice! The reason I am running for Arcadia City Council is that I love the city of Arcadia. I want it to continue to be a great place for our families and businesses to grow. I care about maintaining our city as one where we feel safe in our homes and walking around at night. I want our children to feel safe in their schools. I feel it is an honor to serve my hometown and to give back to the community where I grew up live. Our family has lived in Arcadia for over 47 years. I love this city and we are not going to leave it! I went to Highland Oaks Elementary, Foothills Jr. High (now Middle School) and graduated in 1982 from Arcadia High school. I was an Arcadia Police Explorer from 1977-1982. During this period, my mother, Carolyn Brink, served on the Arcadia Planning Commission. I am a board member with the Professional Peace Officer Association’s Charitable Board, and the Star and Shield Charitable Foundation. I am a Sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department assigned to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station and have been with the sheriff’s now for over 25 years. I now want to serve the great people of Arcadia on the Arcadia City Council. I want to make sure we continue to move forward and keep our focus on making our city a safe place. I want our police and fire departments to have everything they need to do their jobs so we are protected. I want to ensure our parks and community facilities are fully operational. I want to make Arcadia a place for people to want to come to and spend their money at our businesses. I want to create and improve a healthy business climate with a renewed downtown that has more than adequate parking. I want Arcadia to be that great place for families and residents to come to and feel safe to do so. I want to see us continue to revitalize and improve all the areas of the city. There are so many great things on the horizon for our city, we just need to make sure we do what is best for all of us. I want to see our schools continue to get the support they need to keep our kids learning and become our future leaders. For the last 5 years, I have been taking care of my parents who both had cancer. We lost mom 3 years ago and dad this last year. My roots are deep in our community from my childhood and still now as a resident. I feel that I’m a great fit for our diverse community and can bring new ideas to our challenging problems with a fresh set of eyes. If I am elected as your councilman, I will listen to all sides of an issue, and work with everyone to build a consensus for what is best for the whole community. I will encourage common-sense governance and calm decision-making. I am asking for your support so that we can make Arcadia a great place to live, work and play. I am respectfully asking for your vote. Thank you.
