Hello I am new to this group I came here to learn and talk about ITP. A little about my self my name is Alexandra and I am from Houston and I am a freelance photographer/graphic designer. My son Jadon who will be 2 this thursday was diagnosed with ITP on July 15th. I took him to his pediatrician on July 14th because I had been noticing lots of bruises all over his legs and arms. They took blood and the next morning I got a phone call saying that his platlet levels where at 13 and that I needed to get him into Texas childrens. I took him and they said that this is something that he may or may not outgrow. A week later I woke up and he had a random nose bleed. His hemotalogist told me to take him back to the hospital. When they took more blood his levels dropped from 13 to 9 so they kept him over night and gave him a 10 hour drip of immunoglobulin. His levels then went from 9,000 to 43,000. They said that this medicine is supposed to help for 3 weeks but that he has to go for weekly blood test. Last Tuesday July 29th was his first blood test and only 1 weeks since he was released and they have already dropped to 34,000. So it dropped 10,000 in 1 week. He goes again tomorrow for his blood test and I am pretty sure they have dropped a lot more because all of his bruises are coming back. He goes to see the hemotologist on thursday on his 2nd birthday :(. This is all so new for me and very stressful so I hope to learn from all of your expierences to help make this a little easier for my sweet baby boy. Thank you for any info it really helps!
