Hello! I have just found out my sister is moving to Alabama (oh no!) and I am very worried for her safety and the safety of my 2 nieces. I would like to send out some helpful tips for house safety in the event of a home invasion while sleeping (gaud forbid) or an angry ex coming back to harm you! Safe guarding yourself: 1. Take a self defense course (I havent in a while but want to take refresher) 2. always leave front and back porch lights on 3. For your master bedroom get a dead bolt & use it when you go to bed 4. When you go to bed, if your car keys have a panic button leave your keys near you and push the panic button if you hear an intruder. This could potentially scare them away. 5. If you can’t put a lock on your bedroom door then go to home depot and get a door stopper. Use the door stopper to keep intruders out, it works! 6. If you can’t find mase, buy the air horns they use at football games, this will startle an intruder. 7. When moving somewhere new, get to know people before you invite them into your territory. They could be criminals, pedophiles or rapist these people are often the most friendly to new “friends” 8. If you have children, make sure they know that you would never have someone else pick them up from school or the park ect. Educate them on the reality of strangers and people getting into their personal space. 9. Always be on alert, don’t walk around at night with your head phones in or talking on your cell phone , you will be a target. 10. When you go out with girlfriends, text each other when you get home. Keep yourself safe!
