Hello, Ive been working with Wakefield Council (who are keen to help with the event)to secure the return of the Pontefract Grand Prix cycle race and Im pleased to have secured sponsorship from Yorkshire based firm Polypipe to ensure the event is possible again. The date will be Sunday June 7th 2015. One of the only criticisms from the 2014 event was a lack of publicity, so we are working with the council to create a better communications plan. There will be an events village and local business/traders will be encourage to open their shops and/or take a stall on the event. Whilst there is a lot of work to do to finalise the exact plans, we plan to hold monthly open meetings where anyone whos interested in the event can attend to learn more. Well agree the dates and venues for the meetings within the next week or so. The route will remain the same as 2015. The day will 10.00am All roads closed (public/families allowed to ride the circuit) 11.00am Youth races 12.30pm Womens 234 race 1.30pm Mens 234 race 2.45pm Mens elite race 3.45pm Final presentations 4.00pm Roads re-open
