Hello Major Motion Cycling family, please allow me to take up a - TopicsExpress

Hello Major Motion Cycling family, please allow me to take up a few moments of your time...I have recently become a member of this fine organization and I am working to fit in where I can get in...While several of you may know me, there are many more who have no idea who I or my alter ego, KDub is...I hail from Kansas City, Missouri where black folks on bikes is rare and the cycling is dominated by people that dont look like me, which is why I am happy to be a member of this group...My background is in youth development, and I was trained to do so by the Boys & Girls Clubs as the Director of Technology for them for 6 years... I know how to develop and facilitate youth programming having worked on a full time basis in promoting cycling to the urban youth here in my city and neighborhood since 2005, giving away cycling clothing, bikes and equipment to hundreds of urban youth... In doing so I have been a sponsored athlete by a pro cycling team, rubbed elbows with pro cyclists and done things that no ordinary guy like myself should be doing. I have received a lot of support over the years, but none has meant more to me than that support coming from Major Motion Cycling...As a black man, I have a desire to associate myself to causes that I can relate to and people in this group have sent me equipment, given me advice and guidance and most recently, opened up the arms of membership to me...and making me feel more a part of a group than anything that exists here in Kansas City for me. After 3 years of taking a break from doing my own youth cycling programming and working for a few of the youth bike safety organizations that seem to be setting up shop just outside urban neighborhoods, I am convinced that you cannot come into my neighborhood with a big truck full of bikes, set up a bunch pylons and have kids ride around them, then leave that neighborhood, never again seeing those kids til you come back to do the same thing next year and have a significant impact on youth development. So I am getting back into the game. I am already in the process of putting together a youth cycling program at one of the largest urban churches in the city for this summer As a member of Major Motion Cycling, I have already purchase a couple of race kits and I will be sharing the message of Major Taylor and the brand of the MM group to all kinds of people here in Kansas City. I will also be promoting the name of D Dub Custom Sportswear. D Dub Custom Sportswear is a cycling clothing design company owned by Dwayne Ward, a black man. Did you know that? Dwayne reached out to me years ago, and has been supporting me by sending me peices of clothing for kids I work with to wear when we ride. He also designed and sent me some crazy cool riding socks to match my kits when I was racing for Team Sho-Air/Cannondale. Dwayne heard about my joining Major Motion Cycling and started designing some Major Motion team socks for me. He couldnt stop there as I mentioned that I did not see any of you wearing any matching pieces with your MM kits besides arm warmers.. Dwayne did a Major Motion cycling design for both gloves (even for the pink kits) and cycling caps. He has pledged to contribute clothing to my program if I can help generate some interest and purchases of these good looking, quality cycling assesories. I have communicated with both Kevin Evans and Virgil Ford about this and they have given me the go ahead to make these available to Major Motion Cycling members for purchase S0 I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP. Please take a look at the attached pics...If you are interested in purchasing something, even just one piece, please reach out to Kevin who has the very affordable pricing that Dwayne has specially put together for each piece or just reply here and i will reach out and share pricing and other info with you. Thank you in advance for your help, Major Motion Cycling family! With your help, I promise you that together we will impact the lives of many urban youth using cycling as the vehicle and spread the mighty name of Major Taylor and Major Motion to a lot of folks!!!! Sincerely, Kenneth Walker
