Hello My Darlings! Today I learned a big lesson in ASSUMING and taking things personally. Friday night I was working. It was busy as all get out due to it being the first of the month. My boss and co-worker were busy in the back getting things off the truck. My line was long, my back hurt and I was trying to get people out of the store as fast as I could. This woman comes in and asks if we sell any belts. We dont. So she goes on to say that shes going next door. Pretty soon she comes back in, yelling in a loud voice that I needed to call some people up there to help me. So I finish what I am doing, then get on the intercom and ask my co-worker to please come to the front. The woman is so loud at this point, yammering on and on about how I always need help whenever she comes into the store. And then says, And you havent even asked for any yet to which I replied, Yes I did, but you were so loud you didnt hear me. Once my co-worker came up she was nice as pie to her. Truly I wanted to reach out and touch her. Right across her head. How dare she tell my world that I needed help in such a loud voice! She really irritated me. Today she comes in again and as soon as she saw I was working she starts spewing out again in her loud voice about how I should get some help up there. So in a very sarcastic voice I reply, Say it a little louder, I dont think they could hear you. My manager came up and people started going in his line. She, however, got in my line. I decided to be nice and not an ass. We chit chatted about a few things, and then I reached over and touched her arm and said, Honey, next time you think my line is too long could you please just ask me in a nice voice and Ill call someone up? She looked at me and said, Oh honey, it wasnt for me!!!! I always feel so bad when I come in and see that long line you have! Its just not right!!! So I yell and get someone else up here to help you. Oh... mia culpa. My bad. Here I was thinking she was against me and all she was doing was getting my back. :D Had I not asked that, I never would have known that in her own loud way she was being kind. And boy did I get the tingles after she left, so Im pretty sure that was God/Spirit/Universe letting me know all is good. Sometimes, rather than get in that assuming mode, where I make an ass out of me, I just have to open my mouth with kindness. :)
