Hello SHPE Familia, As you may know, SHPE has begun their annual elections, and I have decided to run for the External Vice President position. With that being said, I would like to take this opportunity to briefly present myself and my case, on why I believe I should be your vote for the next External VP. Currently I am a second year student heading towards my third year. I have been involved with SHPE since the start of my college career, beginning as a freshman SHPE roundtable member, followed by being the Athletics Chair my sophomore year. As an active member in this organization, I have participated in many events/activities, but the events I enjoy the most are outreach events. Because I never had the exposure to STEM at a young age, at first, I was amazed of all the positive feedback we receive from both parents and students. I now believe that we make a positive impact on students lives, impacts that will carry on for years, and whether or not they decide to pursue a career in STEM, I believe it can inspire them to pursue their dreams, which for others, would seem distant and unrealistic. The response of these students has always encouraged me to keep coming back and volunteer. I would like for the influence of STEM in SHPE to spread further out, to allow more children to have these opportunities. Therefore I believe there is still room for improvements within the External Vice President position, and if voted in, I would try my best to maximize the potential of the External VP.
