Hello Veggie Gardeners. Happy New Year. It’s Live Question Time again. Have you returned from the holidays to a garden gone wild? The holiday season coincides with the time the garden grows most prolifically and so weeds and marrows become enormous while unchecked in your absence. Now things are beginning to return to some kind of routine it is a great time to restore order in the veggie patch. Aside from finding as many ways to eat zucchini (and may I recommend chocolate zucchini loaf), tying in tomatoes is great to help support the weight of the ripening fruit and don’t be afraid to remove a few leaves to assist with airflow. Watch out for pests too as Green Shield Bugs and Cabbage White Butterfly populations will be on the increase.
