Hello Winter. I can remember as a child looking forward to the first snow in Wisconsin. Bundle up and go outside, my mother would say. Out I would go to a wonderland that felt like another planet altogether - everything laden white, the trees, rocks, bushes, rooftops and barn. The landscape white as far as you could see. The spectacular mystery of water turning to clear ice and me testing to see if it would break in the puddles, stream, or pond. What a dreamland, and my little mind full of wonder, eating ice and snow, laying down and making snow angels, rolling up snow balls to make a snowman. These were the waking moments and then the feeling of heat from the old cook stove thawing out my frozen face and hands which turned to a warm glow lasting long until my bare feet climbed the cold wooden steps upstairs. I fell asleep, covers cold but I was warm inside. Hello Winter! Again we embrace the thought as the nights grow colder and the twinkling stars like bright chunks of ice light up the frigid night sky bringing their witness of the Creator. We think of angel choruses and wonder at the first winter of a new toddler playing and discovering all the seasonal wonders through the eyes of being human - Divinity in humanity! Yeshua was his name; the perfect wonderful son of God who explored this world anew as He still does through me and you. Happy Sabbath rest time, may you experience the Divine speaking to your heart this weekend. Shalom.
