Hello Zane, Ive written to you before but I understand that your inbox gets flooded all the time. So this time Im going to touch on a topic with the police brutality we see on the internet, news , ect . Okay see my brother is a police officer for Prince Georges Police department in Maryland, so when I see ppl say F the police or something negative I take great offense to it because my brother puts his life on the line every day. My brother encounters all types of delinquencies, hoodlums from all race.. For example.. He pulled someone over for one of their break lights out .. And what does the guy say... Oh I thought you was racial profiling me My brother said how is gonna pull someone over if hes behind the car not knowing whos behind the wheel. Another thing my brother says is what you see on video may not be everything, he says videos tend to catch the middle to the end on what you see happening. My brother says that ppl that are civilians will never understand what its like to be a police officer until they are one themselves. The media makes it big but when you see an officer mistreat someone thats only the end.. What about the beginning? Well he told me a story of when he stopped someone for ticketing when the woman became aggressive , threatened him saying she would get her brother to kill him and spat on him and become aggressive , so what my brother did next was place on the ground with excessive force with her head down on the concrete.. Now if this was being recorded, one would say that she is being mistreated by him because of how hard he put her to the ground, without actually getting the full beginning of what really happened..So basically all Im trying to say is what ppl see and read on the internet may not be the whole story maybe half. All police officers arent the same , they have to defend themselves as well if one become aggressive and their life is endangered. Society has become where cops are the bad guys when not all are, it may appear that way but if you dont know the story from beginning to end, then ppl are gonna see a video for what they see a cop is doing. Anyways thank you Zane. Hopefully my email gets to you. I just want you to share this in a completely different perspective and not what media and internet say Your truly- JR MY RESPONSE: Interesting perspective and I agree that most police officers are simply doing their jobs. PG (where I live, FYI) has a reputation that goes way back and he is going to have to kind of accept that. I have run across some PG officers who were doing the most myself and nasty for no reason at all. I have run into others who were extremely nice and I happen to know quite a few personally. I know one who did have to knock a woman out after she tried to take his gun. However, he did not shoot her eight times as in the recent case that has gone viral. It is a very dangerous profession and I commend anyone who even does it.
