Hello again, my Face Book Friends. We are closing in on October 25th when my church (St Luke MBC), my sorority (Beta Phi Omega Chapter AKA) and I will be honoring over 25 men and women who are either grateful survivors or actively fighting the disease, and 20 who have transitioned due to the deadly disease of cancer. In addition, we are also donating part of those funds to send for cancer research. On Monday of this week, I was given a clean bill of health after 10 years of survivorship of liver cancer through transplantation. But, there have been over 8 of my family members who were stricken with one form or another of this horrible disease, and sadly, they are all no longer with us. For those of us who have been affected by this disease there is a strong kinship. So, it has been my passion to try to bring a little joy to those who are still with us and prayers for those who have transitioned. Ive asked for sponsors to help with the cost of honoring these recipients and sending a donation to cancer research. Now, it is getting close to the time when I need to purchase the items for the event. If you have agreed to, or if you wish to be a sponsor for one of these men or women, you can do so for only $25.00. We are only 10 sponsors away from our goal! Your support is gratefully accepted. You can submit cash, check, or credit card(s). The church memorial service for all recipients will first be honored during our morning worship at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Then, on Saturday, October 25th the Pretty In Pink, Journey of Dreams Luncheon will be held at the churchs fellowship hall.St. Luke is located at 13th and Avenue L in Galveston, TX. Our pastors wife, Lillie Wheat, a 12+ year cancer survivor herself will be our guest speaker. Of course our pastor, Charles E. Wheat is a great supporter of our efforts. A delicious luncheon, a very nice gift and a very informative program will be held for the survivors.at this event.
