Hello all. I would like to get a ride group spun up out on - TopicsExpress

Hello all. I would like to get a ride group spun up out on our side (west) of town… so here it goes. I will be at the entrance to Shaefer Heard Park Wednesday night as well each Wednesday night for the month of June at 6:00 to see if we can gain some momentum. We will leave on time, don’t be late. https://plus.google/110081129411950020404/about?gl=us&hl=en I want to welcome all comers so here is the plan – Begin at 6:00 – 12 mile “all ride” We stick together to have a nice community spin and help new riders develop group riding skills and offer encouragement. THIS IS FOR ALL COMERS! The one thing that we ask is that your fitness be good enough to average around 14 mph for that segment of the ride. We will ride a loop that begins and ends at the parking lot – No one will be forced to ride alone! That’s’ the rule for the 1st lap. If you are a faster rider, help someone else become faster. ~7:00 – A and B group ride. Plans will vary as participation varies. We will ride from the parking are to the west exit of the park (across the dam) and turn right. This will lead us onto part of the Tour De Lake course and we can vary pace and distance as the season dictates. We will develop routes over time, I am sure. I just want to emphasize the importance of support and community on this ride. There are a lot of rides available to go bang bars and go for blood, this is not that ride. That being said, if you want to show up and go off of the front to do your own thing, that is okay too – just be nice when you get back to the parking lot. D-Baggery not tolerated. Helmets will be required to ride with us. If you do not have one, call me. We will work on developing riding skills such as pace line riding as a group, basic road survival skills (and habits), basic emergency maintenance and things like that. One last thing that will be expected is a courteous attitude towards each other and ESPECIALLY MOTORIZED TRAFFIC! We will not be the group that occupies the entire road just ‘cuz we can. We will be good ambassadors for the sport and a fit lifestyle. Hope this was not too “preachy” but I wanted to accomplish a couple of things 1) Encourage new riders to come and learn the ropes in a friendly environment and, 2) Explain that something is expected of you if you show up Hope to see you there. I will be. Allan Any questions? (229) 560 8831
