Hello all, Just an update to our petition to Archbishop Tobin of Indianapolis for a Latin Mass on the Southern Indiana side of the river. We got a very nice letter back from Auxiliary Bishop Christopher Coyne on behalf of Archbishop Tobin. He said he was open to having an EF Mass over here, if we could find a stable community, a priest who could help us and a parish. He went further to say that he would contact the Deans to try to help us and to see if there would be a priest willing and able to celebrate the Rite for us. He thanked us for our fidelity to the Churchs teaching in this matter and our obedience and respect to our Archbishop. He said I will try and do what I can to help respond to your petition with a positive outcome. I thought that was very sweet of both of them! Sadly, as soon as the request did go out from Bishop Coyne to the Deans and a kindly priest stepped forward to volunteer, the Dean squashed it. He told the priest that the priest was too busy. The priest in question told me he was very sorry he could not help out in this matter now and for me to contact the Dean. I do so, and inquired what else we could do to have an EF Mass over here. The Dean informed me that no priests were able or willing to take part here as they were too busy for anything else. I pressed the issue a little, but then thanked him for his time when I saw it was going nowhere, and that is how it ended. Please pray for a positive outcome to our petition anyway, and for this Deanery. Interestingly, a week later a letter went out from Archbishop Tobin saying that Bishop Coyne would be moving to Jeffersonville IN to reside in this Deanery. I think that is good news! Its been a desert here spiritually for a very long time. Hope it will help the priests here. God bless you and pray for us over here on this side of the Ohio. Adele D.
