Hello all. The photo to get your attention is a Laker I polished - TopicsExpress

Hello all. The photo to get your attention is a Laker I polished and Tom Shearer photographed for me. To rejoin the conversation about quality vs. value/size this agate is about 1.25 across! It is one of the finest and most unusual Lakers I have ever seen, owned, or polished. I wish it weighed three pounds. Id sell it and buy my own personal jet airplane. The reason for this message is to talk about some personal messages sent to admins over the past couple of weeks and hopefully provide answers. This group was set up to be an informal place to buy, sell, and talk about Lake Superior Agates. Originally it was set up to be a fixed price selling group. Members have gradually moved it toward more auctions. I dont like auctions. I personally prefer when the seller and buyer both know their agates and deal from what they know the market value of the agate is. Sellers like auctions because they think this method will get them more money for their agates. However, auction selling can backfire and result in lower prices. Members have asked us ( the admins ) to establish complex rules that would govern auctions. But hey, guess what, the admins here are making ZERO money for their time and effort and lots of rules and enforcing them would take huge amounts of additional time. So, the rules are simple and the group will succeed or fail because members get along and play nice etc. and not because of rules. So, there is no official clock to see who got the last bid in at the last microsecond. There is no record of bidders except the comments to the original post. There is no method of payment run by the group. There is no return policy. There are no shipping guidelines. There is no way to leave feedback in an organized manner on the group. These are all valuable services that people who sell on internet auction sites PAY FOR. So, if you want these kinds of rules and external controls then you will have to go to an internet auction site and sign up to either sell or buy. If you want to sell or buy here you have to handle this all yourself. If a sellers disses you here then dont buy from them again. I a seller here sends you something you dont like and wont refund your money dont buy from them again. We, the admins, watch the group as much as possible for abusive posts like spam. We also dont want to see personal grievances posted on the group page. If you have a problem with a seller or buyer the admins here are not the police to enforce good behavior. We cannot take sides. But, we can and will remove posts that are personally vindictive or damaging to individuals whether they are sellers or buyers. If you believe that you are the victim of such a post then please let an admin know about it and we will take a look. We can delete any post on the page and we can also delete members. We will not, however, delete members if and when other members tell us they have gotten bad deals such as non payment or misrepresentation of an agate. We would never know the real facts and such situations could just be personal vindictiveness on the part of the member. We will not get involved. If you have a beef take it up with the other member and please keep it off the group page. This group can be useful to members who want to buy and sell Lake Superior Agates. However, it is up to members to conduct their activities with others here. Any comments, questions, or requests for clarification are welcome to this post. ps. my small Laker is not for sale !
