Hello all! There are a number of important issues I wish to - TopicsExpress

Hello all! There are a number of important issues I wish to address with this post & hopefully to clear up any mis understandings that seem to be doing the rounds at the moment. Firstly, Folk21 & this page exists for discussion. We took the decision to make it so because we didnt want any discussion to be swamped with advertising. So we set up our sister page Folk21 Wazzup - where all adverts & promotional material is very welcome & encouraged from organisers & artists. We are always wanting members to post discussion topics here & most importantly any areas you feel we are not covering & where ever possible your feedback & ideas on how we may be able to offer pro active help in achieving these. Folk21 is run solely by volunteers. There are no expenses paid either to committee members. We are greatly indebted to other organisers & artists who have given us their time & committment in helping run our regional days & showcase initiative. Organisers who work hard running their own clubs & festivals. Without their pro active support we simply could not do it & we are always wanting more people to get involved in that capacity. The Regional Days & Showcase Concert initiative is designed to provide a platform for regional organisers to come together to discuss current challenges & to share ideas. Its also there to help find ways that greater cooperation between clubs/venues may be beneficial for example - joint marketing strategies etc.... The showcase concert is there for both organisers & artists. For organisers so that they may be able to see a number of artists that they may be unfamiliar with. And to give artists the opportunity to perform in front of numerous club/venue organisers in one evening, as well as a public audience. Any money made from the showcase concerts goes towards paying for venue hire, bar, sound, advertising etc.... They are not & have never been run for profit. Im extremely proud to be a small part of this group & our achievements. Im prouder still to get the opportunity to work alongside organisers, promoters & artists with a vast amount of experience, without which this group wouldnt exist. But inward looking is something were not. So please if you have any ideas & are willing to work with us share them here. If we can all be pro active in realising new ideas then we really do stand a better chance of sustaining & developing our folk clubs/small venues that provide us all with outstanding live folk music. Thanks Kelly Folk21 Secretary
