Hello everyone, Im passing on a message from my friend Jen who is organising the counter action towards the delisiting of Tasmanias world heritatge forests from the World Heritage organisation listing. All you have to do is copy the template letter, add your info and send it to the address listed. Every submission will help alot... Template letter is in the comments, Spread the love!! D How you can help save Tasmanias World Heritage forests from going back on the chopping block. We are here to help you make a submission to the Senate Inquiry on the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA). Submissions are due this Friday 7 March. You can use the pro-forma guide that we have prepared or you can read through the additional information about values of the threatened forests and write your own. See the pro-forma submission and more information at this link https://dropbox/sh/cnhosidhjwwtbdr/qOwK5b5ja- At the bottom of this email is a pro-forma submission you can use. Or contact me and I will forward you the information as an attachment. The Senate has agreed to an inquiry, initiated by Senator Christine Milne, into the proposed de-listing of forests only recently added to the TWWHA. The Abbott Government is applying to the World Heritage Committee to remove 74,000ha and make them available for logging. The Abbott government claims that this forest is badly degraded and logged, which is incorrect as indicated by the expert assessments recommending this area for inclusion into the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. Forests that are at risk of delisting are Cockle Creek, Recherche, Hastings, Esperance, Hartz, Picton, Weld, Russell, Wedge, Upper and Lower Florentine and the Upper Derwent Valley, including Butlers Gorge and Clarence Lagoon. We have prepared this submission guide to assist you in providing a submission to the Senate committee as to why you support the inclusion of these forests on the World Heritage register and why the Abbott Government’s proposal to delist them is unacceptable. Simply use the information below and send to [email protected] (As an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word document) by Friday 7 March. Include your full contact details on your submission; Name, Postal Address, Ph. number. Your submission need only be a concise one to two page document addressing the Terms of Reference for the inquiry. There will be a full day public hearing in Hobart on Monday 31 March. If you would like to give evidence in person then remember to write that in your submission. The committee will deliver its report on 15 May 2014. Please contact me for further information. Please also send this to your networks over email. I will be releasing these guides online so you can share through social media as well. Consider printing these submissions and ask people to sign them, in your campaign office, workplace, or hold a stall this week.
