Hello everyone! India Fenelon and I have created this video as part of our final year assessment for Occupational Therapy. Please read, watch, share and raise awareness. One in 16 young Australians is currently experiencing depression. This is equivalent to 178, 000 young people today (ABS Australian Demographic Statistics, June 2013). Despite this, Mental Health remains a largely hidden topic in todays society. The implications of this extend beyond emotional disruption and can result in a loss of meaningful engagement in activities of daily living, acting to perpetuate mental health concerns. Too often we let this cycle continue, either because we do not see it, because we ignore it, or because we are too afraid to confront it. It is time we take action against these frightening statistics. Time we become aware. Time we soften up. Time we speak up. Time we listen up. How are you feeling Australia?
