Hello everyone, Sheriff Blair would like to share a legal up date for citizens regarding some revisions to the “move over” law. As you may know: On a 2-lane roadway, you are required to slow to a speed that is 20 miles per hour LESS THAN the posted speed limit. If the posted speed limit is 20 miles per hour or less, drivers are required to slow down to 5 miles per hour. If you are driving on an interstate or roadway with multiple lanes and you approach an emergency vehicle, you must vacate the lane closest to that vehicle AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you are not able to safely move over, you must slow down to 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit. The new rules include sanitation vehicles and utility vehicles.
