Hello everyone. So, as MLK Day comes to a close, I would like to - TopicsExpress

Hello everyone. So, as MLK Day comes to a close, I would like to stop and reflect on a few things. What I have to say may not be favorable to some, but I think the ones that get upset are the ones that truly dont understand. MLK Day is a day that we celebrate the birth of an amazing man that spent his life fighting for civil rights. He was so passionate about EQUALITY that he ended up giving his life for it after a crazy person shot him for his beliefs. However, as I have scrolled off and on through my news feed, I see mostly negative posts about oppression and hatred. What the hell is wrong with people these days? MLK would not want this day set aside for todays people to be filled with white guilt or brown guilt. His lifes mission was about EQUALITY! Me feeling guilty for how this nation treated African Americans in past generations is just as asinine as me apologizing to a British person for throwing his tea into the Boston harbor. People today have brought up slavery on MLK as well. Slaves were freed long before the existence of MLK. The significance that I can find was the fact that MLK was one of the greatest Republican African Americans ever lived. He fought against guys like LBJ saying Ill have all the (n words) voting democrat for the next 200 years. He fought against the same economic slavery that is still going on today with our current administration and race baiters like Al Sharpton that have done NOTHING for the African Americans other than profit off of injustices. In closing, I say shame on a lot of people for not celebrating the birth and life of a good man today. Instead they danced on his grave trying to push more hate and guilt. I for one believe in in MLKs life work for EQUALITY. It was not about advancing anyone greater than the other. Love and EQUALITY.
