Hello, everyone, The CCPA will have a workday in Cades Cove on Saturday, Nov. 15, weather permitting. We will be clearing the roadway from the Charlie Garland home site to the Jake Garland home site. We cleared the roadway over to the Charlie Garland’s but did not get on to Jake Garland’s home site then. The National Park Service allows us to clear roadways to home sites in the park as long as we cut downed timber. We will meet at the Myers Overlook just past the Missionary Baptist Church at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 and begin work. The CCPA will provide saws and equipment, so all you need bring are gloves and a will to work. You should bring some water and a snack for lunch. We will feed everyone after we get back to our vehicles, either at the parking lot or at the picnic area. The weather forecast looks good for that day, but in case of rain, we will reschedule the day. If you can come, please call the Cades Cove Museum at (865) 982-0705 and leave a message. Even if you can’t swing an axe or pull a saw, you can lend moral support. We would like as many folks as can make it to come by for this workday. We hope to see you there.
