Hello everyone! This is Naia and Nikos Mom. We have been at our wits end here at home for a while and I just dont know where to turn to at this point in our lives. As many of you know, I have been unable to work since 2009 and I have been denied SS benefits twice now. (Lawyer is in the beginning stages of working on this, but has told me this might take up to a year to resolve depending on when we get an actual court date). In early 2013, I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome, and went as for as going down to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. As of today, I need to walk with a cane as my balance is a huge issue. I am numb from about my thigh area down to the bottoms of my feet, my eyesight is now horrible, and my face is still partially paralyzed. This is a HUGE improvement since my diagnosis in early 2013. (I have other health issues such as spinal stenosis, they want to do a neck fusion at some point, knee meniscus degeneration and osteo-arthritus in the same knee, lymphodema in both lower legs, lower back issues, chromic asthma, depression, and newly diagnosed diabetes) In Oct, 2013, I had a major heart attack due to a 6 blood clot and had to have a stent put int my heart. In Feb, 2014, my husband lost his job that he had been at for 20 years. Not only did he lose his job, but we lost all of our health benefits. He now has another job, but he did take a huge pay cut. Our new health insurance just started Aug 1st, 2014. As of right now, we can not even pay this months rent of $750. Our electricty/water/gas will be turned off in the next couple of days. Everyone wants money RIGHT NOW and we dont qualify for any type of help. We havent been able to have children, but we do have our furry little 4-legged kids, Naia and Niko. And on top of everything, Naia has eye problems and is having problems seeing things and has now been getting infections. Dishing out $450 every time we go to the vet has devastated us. We have had some help from our families, which we are so grateful for. My husbands mom lives on her SS now and only has a limited amount of funds. I dont know what to do. Someone did tell me about the GoFundMe site, and I will set up an account, but I REALLY HATE having to ask people that dont even know us for help. We are truly at our lowest here. Living paycheck to paycheck is the hardest thing ever when you cant even afford to pay for daily living expenses. I really dont know what its like to be homeless, but I think we are almost at that point. Any suggestions???
