Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2013 13:50:42 -0800 Hello everyone, I am contacting you today regarding an absolutely delightful little boxer mix at the Yolo County Animal Services shelter in Woodland. This girl needs rescue because she does not like to share her food and treats. A119959 is an approximately 1-2 year old female boxer mix weighing 32 lbs. This petite girl was turned in as a stray from the city of Woodland and was not redeemed by an owner. I love this dog! She is such a silly, wiggly, affectionate girl. She loves everyone she meets, and when you talk to her, she wrinkles her nose up, gives a little snort, and graces you with a submissive smile. I love dogs that smile!!! She walked pretty well on leash with me, has not jumped up once, and tries to keep her kennel spotless. When I took her into the outdoor yard with me, she sniffed around a bit but mostly wanted to be close to me. I couldnt interest her in any toys, but when I sat down she climbed into my lap and smooshed her face into my belly (snort-snort:)). I played with her ears, her silly loose lips, tail, paws... and she loved it all. :) I introduced this girl to a young female pit mix, and they were in seventh heaven! They raced around the run, wrestled, jumped and spun in the air- it was very nice to see. I have only seen very loose, wiggly body language from her around other dogs. During her temperament test, this girl was passing with flying colors- extremely social, very tolerant of handling, played gently with the tester. Then, when the tester tried to take a rawhide away from her, she growled; when she then put the assess-a-hand into her bowl of wet food, she growled and bared her teeth. I repeated these portions of the test with her later that day, and of course I could not elicit any guarding behavior at all from her. When I approached her food bowl, she just looked up at me and smiled! This little girl needs to be further evaluated in a foster home to see if the guarding behavior pops up again. She also has some dermatitis on her belly that will need to be looked at. Overall she is an amazing little dog who will make a great companion! If you can help this girl, please respond by Friday 11/8/13. Thank you everyone!
