Hello everyone. Today was the first meating for CAC of this spring semester. We discused several importan topics and points. For anyone who did not attend, our curent priority is getting Relay for Life up and running. We are falling behind not only compared to teams this year but also in terms of what we acomplished last year. Our goal is to raise $18,000 for Relay for life and we currently only have $380 raised. We also have: • 4 teams • 15 participants • and a Cancer survivor So in light of this information we are going to be doing a little competition for the teams. The first team to recruit 5 more people to their team will be getting a Pizza Party!!! Now in fundraising, we were trying to think of different ideas that might work. We came up with a few but if you have any other ideas that you think could work or that you just want to give us, dont hesitate to comment. The ideas that were given at the meeting were: • Doing a Dinner night • Going to Drive in • Asking Fast-5 pizza if they would contribute a portion of their earnings for a day • asking people to fill pill containers (maybe put their name and # on the cap) with change and then raffling of something for those who turn them in. If you have any ideas of ways to fundraise or if you know of places that will be willing to help out comment or send us a message. We are also planing on giving crescent papers for people to sign when they donate $1 to our cause and then maybe hang them up somewhere next week during club rush. (Like they do in grocery stores) The next topic we covered in the meeting was Love your Captain. We realize that taking on the position of Captain for this event and others as well is hard and quite stressful for the captains. They may get a lot of criticism from others about the way they are handling things, but they are doing the best they can do and we need to give them our love for all the energy and effort that they are putting into this, so in the team meeting that is going to be held on Friday in the cafeteria from 10am-11am, we are planning to give the captains a little something to show them our love. If you want you can also bring a little something. It does not have to be anything big, just something to show your appreciation for their hard work, that would be great. The Relay for Life is going to be held on the 26 and 27 of April in Central Middle School right across from RCC, but we have yet to come up with a theme. There were the themes that were mentioned: • Holidays ex. halloween, forth of july, valentine’s • Eras ex. 1960s, 70s (disco), 80s (crazy hair) • Hollywood Movies ex. Pirates of the Caribbean, fast and the furious, Matrix • Circus ex. tight rope, elephants, haunted house • carnival games ex. Water dunking, throwing rings, throwing a ball at bowling pins. Keep in mind that each one of the 4 teams will choose their own theme under one of the categories. For example, if we choose Disney movies as a theme for the Relay for Life, then one team may choose the Little Mermaid, the other may choose Wall-E, another may choose Toy Story. So think of what would be the best option. If you have more ideas please post them as comments or message us. We would also appreciate if you would post a comment below to tell us which theme you prefer. Furthermore, we need some fun ideas for activities to do during the Relay for life. Again, if you have any ideas, please post them up for us. We will greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Next week on Tuesday and Wednesday will be the Club Rush, starting at 12:50pm. Those who can come help set up are more than welcome to come. I too, will be there on Wednesday at 11am. So summing every thing up: Tuesday March 4th and Wednesday March 5th is clubrush. We will be letting people sign lunar papers when they give a donation of $1 to our cause April 26 and 27, we will have Relay for Life. Our goal is to raise $18,000 for the American Cancer Society. So lets get moving everyone!! Let’s contribute to our cause, and Thank you for your help.
