Hello everyone, We hope everyone has had a great year. Its that - TopicsExpress

Hello everyone, We hope everyone has had a great year. Its that time of year again - garlic time. The weather has been perfect, and we are more optimistic about harvest this year. The garlic is ready to be pulled in fact. However, this year we are not doing the September pre order, this year we are doing things a bit different. Instead, you have 3 options for your winter garlic. 1. Groundbreakers Collective. This is the best option. Each year we supply garlic all winter long in the Groundbreakers Harvest Box. This is great for you as you not only get quality garlic each month but loads of other things. Groundbreakers is a multi producer CSA that supplies 100% local food all winter long. Customers have been very happy. For more info go to groundbreakerscollective.ca . In any case, if you wish to sign up please go to Natures Pantry. If you have more questions please drop us a line, or contact our coordinator Dawn Hanson at [email protected] . With this option, you do not have to store your garlic, and we go thought our stock every few weeks and select the best for Groundbreakers. It is great for both you and us. FYI - High Slope Acres also supplies the eggs, squash (again - the only way to guarantee yummy winter squash), and kale for the boxes all winter long. 2. Come to one of our workbees and get garlic guaranteed. The second best option. We have three work bees at which you can put in some time for some garlic. The first is a Groundbreakers harvest bee: Saturday Aug 17 from 9:00 - 1:00 or 2:00 - 6:00, light lunch at 1:00. Second: The annual Groundbreakers garlic harvest extravaganza. Check out the video at groundbreakerscollective.ca to see last years bee. The extravaganza will be Sunday Aug 25th from 9:00 - 1:00 or 2:00 - 6:00, light lunch at 1:00. Third workbee: Sunday September 22nd (date may change) for a planting bee: 9:00 - 1:00 or 2:00 - 6:00. Light lunch at 1:00. We will be planting a bit less garlic this year and hope to get it all in and mulched that day. If you come for any of the above 4 hour shifts then you will get a lunch, and half a kg of fresh garlic to take home, as well as guaranteed 1.5 kg in January. 3. Last option - buy small quantities at the market until December and then place and order for the rest of the winter in January. In other words, we will be selling loose garlic at the fall markets. If we still have stock in January we will be taking orders and will then fill bulk orders, once we have inspected all the garlic and know it will last until April. The price will be the same as last year at $28/kg. Thanks again for your support over the last few years. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to take advantage of any of the above options then please let us know. Thanks again. Take care. Mark and Gary.
