Hello family and welcome to the recap of SWITCH (Wednesday, 10th September, 2014).Our topic at Switch was tagged, Me and My Emotions. It was a blast! As always, well give you the inside scoop, enjoy: Jesus is many things but a major part of the ministry of Jesus was the healing of human bodies. Isaiah 61:2 shows that Jesus healed not just the human body but human emotions. Jesus revealed that people can receive wholeness and strength if they lacked self-control. This means that a person can be BORN AGAIN yet be a WEAKLING emotionally. Christ wants us to be strong emotionally and to have self control. You need to be strong emotionally to handle the issues of life. Even though people may carry you in challenging times they won’t do it forever. You need to understand the times & seasons when you need to carry your issues by yourself & when you may need help to carry the load/burden. Many people are breaking down and are not sound emotionally in their relationships. This makes them EXCESS LUGGAGE for their partner. In understanding your emotions, 1 Thessalonians 5:23 states that man is a spirit, lives in a body and he possesses a soul. In order for a person to fulfill his function as a being, his soul needs to be refurbished after his spirit is renewed. The soul of the man is the seat of the man consisting of the WILL, INTELLECT and the EMOTION. Man relates with God with his spirit but INTERACTS with the elements of this world with his soul. Emotions by definition are a complex state of feeling that result in physical & psychological changes that influence our behaviour. There are many kinds of emotions or feelings. There are positive emotions e.g I feel delighted, elated, expectant, confident, courageous, excellent, loved, inspired, grateful etc. While there are negative emotions include, guilt, revenge, shame, anxiety, stress, burdened, frustration, anger, etc. One or more of these negative issues may resonate with us- whether positive or negative based on your background. This could also be due to a mismanagement of our temperament. The Holy Spirit is the ULTIMATE source of positive emotion (Galatians 5:19-23). When we lean on the Holy Spirit & realize we cannot live in the flesh, we make the Holy Spirit our SOURCE. Emotional well-being/wellness is pre-determined by the following: 1. Treat others well: treat them with compassion and kindness. Any one that values people is emotionally stable (Hebrews 12:14-15). Being at peace with all men and being holy guarantees that we see God. However, when we allow our emotions to colour our perspective of things we are headed for setbacks and disaster. 2. You like who you are: you will feel pretty good about who you are (1Cor.15:9-10). 3.Flexible:these people can adapt no matter the situation.Your life should not be determined by what is going on around u (Phil 4:6-8) A ready example was Paul. He was not moved by his feelings - he knew how to manage, live in abundance and was content in every state he was in. 4. You give gratitude and appreciation to your loved ones. 5. You are in touch with your emotions. You know when you are excited, happy, sad, etc.If you can say, ‘this is how I feel’, and answer honestly per time, the problem is half-solved. When we deal with our emotions head on and ask the Holy Spirit for help daily, He will come to our rescue. Prayer: Ask God to renew your mind daily. pray that your relationships will improve and bring forth good fruit in Jesus name. Thats it for our recap of Switch. We trust you have been blessed!
