Hello fellow fb teachers, could you help with some suggestions on creative writing for year 5. I have a friend who is finding it challenging to teach this to her class. She has a select few who have amazing ideas and find the task easier and the rest are reluctant to share ideas or even come up with anything at all. She feels she is giving them too many ideas and is overloading them with information. I have suggested to to take it one step at a time. I think she is worried as they need to write a lot but in my opinion I would rather quality over quantity. I suggested the first paragraph to work together and everyone then has the same first parat (somewhat) so then the ones struggling have seen it modeled and then they go off to write independently. I also suggested to have a key words list and sentence starters on their tables etx.....
