Hello fellow gardeners! CCE Onondaga Master Gardeners are preparing to offer a Master Composter training this November. This is a 5 hour training, split into 2 sessions, that will cover the basics of soil health, an introduction to soil decomposers, an overview of related Onondaga County Waste management issues (almost 30% of our county’s municipal solid waste is compostable paper products and food waste!), pros and cons of various composting systems, troubleshooting strategies for success, and vermi-composting. During the final session each participant will construct an indoor worm bin to take home. Details and registration information below. Please pass along to anyone you think might be interested. MASTER COMPOSTER TRAINING WHEN: Tuesdays, Nov. 5 & 12, 6:00-8:30 PM WHERE: CCE Onondaga Classroom, Suite 325, The Atrium, 2 Clinton Sq, Syracuse FEE: $25 (due at first session) A 2 session training based on a presentation developed by Greg Gelewski at OCRRA. Curriculum includes the values and uses of compost, building healthy soil, pros and cons of various composting methods, and an overview of Onondaga County’s waste management systems. Participants will construct worm bins to take home with them at the last session.
