Hello folks, just want to express deepest condolences to Carmel Walsh and family, Knockrooskey, Westport, on the tragic death of Matt in an accident while out cycling near Aughagower yesterday. I have known them for many years. Matt and Carmel have been loyal supporters of Big Tom and The Mainliners for years and seldom missed one of their shows when they were down in these parts. They were even planning on going to Castleblayney for the tribute show to Big Tom on Thursday week, January 22, if tickets could be got for the night. They recently celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary and a photo of their special day 40 years ago was published in The Mayo News just two weeks ago. We are all deeply shocked with this sad news. Condolences also to all the other families throughout the region who are coping with their own sad bereavements at this time.
